Wolves fans are looking forward to seeing what kind of moves will be made now that Cesar Peixoto is at the helm – but Jose Sa staying is surely out of the question.
Peixoto became head coach at Molineux a couple of weeks ago, after Rob Edwards was sacked.
Edwards’ sacking was messy in how it came about, but the decision had seemingly been in the pipeline for a few weeks.
Wolves fans, how do you honestly rate Jose Sa’s five-year spell at Wolves?
We suspect not everyone will agree about him… 😅
Peixoto is now in the hot seat, and it will be important for him to put his mark on this team as quickly as possible.
Promotion at the first time of asking is the goal, so it’s vital that Peixoto has a squad that is ready to compete.
There’s been a lot of speculation about Jose Sa already, and it’s tricky to see him staying put based off one Peixoto statistic.
Cesar Peixoto needs a goalkeeper who’s good with his feet
It’s expected that Sa will go this summer, and that’s just as well because at Gil Vicente, Peixoto barely had his team playing long balls from the back.
It was a side that adopted a mid-block, and only 11.4% of passes went long on the regain of the ball. It was rare that passes went long and there wasn’t much counter-attacking (via Concept Scouting).
Peixoto’s side was more about organised positional play, with shorter passes.
As Wolves fans have seen over the past few years, Jose Sa is not the greatest goalkeeper when it comes to playing out from the back.
The game has gone in that direction and Sa has tried to move with the times.

But he has been guilty of playing too slowly and inviting pressure. Or not being accurate enough with his passes to teammates, again leading to unnecessary pressure.
Wolves are thought to be looking to shake up their goalkeeping department, and the new number one that comes in must have good composure on the ball if Peixoto is going to create a team in his image.
Sa’s time at Wolves is over
As well as not really being a fit for Peixoto, there is just a feeling that Sa – who has fresh interest from Trabzonspor (via Sabah) – has reached the end of his time as a Wolves player.
He does still have a year left on his contract, but previous reports indicating he desperately tried to join Nottingham Forest in January suggest he isn’t keen to stick around.
It was then reported he didn’t want to play in the Championship.
It therefore just can’t be that he stays at Molineux, with him moving on being the best for all parties.
