As Wolves’ Premier League status hangs by a thread, there is now a further suggestion that Jose Sa will be leaving this summer.
In a few hours, Wolves’ relegation could be confirmed, after Brighton’s late equaliser against Tottenham Hotspur kept the club alive in the top-flight.
West Ham United take on Crystal Palace tonight, and a point for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will officially relegate Wolves.
And it won’t be long until there’s speculation about Wolves players’ futures.
Undoubtedly the squad will be looking very different next season for the Championship.
And one man who really does look certain to leave is Jose Sa, with a new claim today suggesting he tried to leave in January.
Jose Sa ‘did everything he possibly could’ to leave Wolves in January
Wolves had something of a mini clear out in January, with Jorgen Strand Larsen, Jhon Arias, Emmanuel Agbadou all being sold.
Marshall Munetsi and Fer Lopez left on loan, and could yet turn their moves permanent in the summer.
But it seems more might have gone in the last window.
Nathan Judah has been speaking about Wolves on The Wolves Poddy With Judah and Spiers – and brought up Sa while discussing the Mateus Mane and Tolu Arokodare situation.
Last night, news broke that Arokodare had recently been fined by Wolves for having a bust-up with Mane, with the striker being ‘the sole aggressor’.
Judah referred to another instance recently of a senior player having a go at Mane. And that man was Sa, although there was no physicality.

He said: “I feel sorry for Mane. I think he’s got more talent in his middle finger than some of these other people who are having a go at him.
“This is not the first time an incident has happened, as you’d expect by the way. In terms of a struggling side, they’re not all going to be happy as Larry in the dressing room.
“But there was another incident a couple of weeks back after the Crystal Palace game. Jose Sa and Mane.
“Sa in front of all his teammates giving him a good dressing down. 18-year-old kid. By the way, how many people were abysmal that day? I’m not saying Mane was any better, he wasn’t. But come on.
“This is a captain by the way. Don’t know if this is new news or not. He was desperate to leave in January. Captain, but he was desperate to leave. Did everything he possibly could to leave this club, to go to Nottingham Forest. Didn’t happen.
Forest, of course, are now managed by former Wolves manager Vitor Pereira.
Talks between Wolves and Forest were reported at the time. But the true nature of Sa’s desire to go has not really been known until now.
Sa could be one of the first out of Wolves
Seemingly Sa was really set on leaving Wolves in the last window, but for whatever reason he didn’t get his wish.
But this surely points to him leaving in the summer, as Wolves prepare for the Championship.
Liam Keen recently suggested that Sa was almost certain to depart Wolves this summer, and this information from Judah only suggests further that he wants out.
Of course, it’s expected may will go. But Sa may well be one of the first offloaded and in light of this information, he can likely expect a strong reaction from fans when he goes.
