The transfer window is open again so Adama Traore’s Wolves future is a topic of discussion again.

90Min are reporting that Tottenham are making a fresh bid to sign him this month.

They claim that Bruno Lage has decided to let him go, despite recently saying: “When you want to do next step, every time you sell your best players, the next step never happens.

One Player Who Should REJECT Your Club

“But in the transfer window, you never know if something happens in last minute, you have to decide what is best for the club and the player.”

They claim that not only are Wolves willing to sell now, the asking price has dropped from £50 million in the summer to £22 million now.

Traore’s contract situation will play a part but it still has 18 months left to run. Would Wolves really slash more than 50 per cent off his asking price to offload him mid-season?

Reports about Wolves players being available at relatively affordable prices seem to surface fairly regularly for whatever season.

But in reality, they kept Traore and Ruben Neves fairly comfortably in the summer and are under little financial pressure to sell; certainly not on the cheap.

Tottenham are also reportedly trying to throw players into the deal to sign Traore, presumably looking to drive the price down even further.

Unsurprisingly, Matt Doherty is named as one option, but Wolves have Nelson Semedo and Ki-Jana Hoever now. They don’t need to bother with the risk of reintegrating a player who left the club, only for the move to not work out.

An interesting other name mentioned in light of Wolves’ need for a new central defender is Wales international Joe Rodon.

Jose Mourinho even called Rodon ‘perfect’, but he has found it hard to nail down Premier League gametime at Spurs and there would be serious doubts over whether he could go into the Wolves side and make a difference right now.

It is worth playing down these Traore exit links for the time being, especially at the price discussed here and that means it would be a major surprise if Rodon was an old gold player any time soon.
