The 2025/26 season may have only just wrapped up, but Wolves are already making headway with rebuilding their squad, agreeing a deal to sign Kieran Trippier.

It was reported last week that Trippier had been in talks with Wolves, with the player leaving Newcastle United at the end of his contract.

There had been optimism for Wolves to get a deal done, but a number of other clubs were also in for him, as well as Saudi Arabia.

But it seems today that Wolves have won the race.

Kieran Trippier set to become Wolves’ first signing

It’s been reported various top publications now that Trippier has agreed to join Wolves.

It is a free transfer of course, and the defender is expected to sign a two-year deal, with the option of a further 12 months, according to BBC Sport.

That is quite the contract for a player who is 35. But Wolves clearly believe in him and the impact he could make.

Trippier is currently on a family holiday, and it’s thought his medical at Wolves will take place next week.

Undoubtedly this is a very positive step for Wolves, who have so much to do this summer.

Trippier may be past his prime, but he still made 18 starts for Newcastle in the 2025/26 Premier League season, and offers leadership and versatility.

He’ll hold people to account, and to have this kind of figure in the dressing room could be so valuable.

So that’s one experienced head coming in, and it remains to be seen if Wolves could soon make it two.

Raul Jimenez has also been linked with a move to Molineux, and that’s another signing that could have a transformative effect.
