Raul Jimenez’s name was sung loud and proud by Wolves fans during yesterday’s draw with Fulham – and the striker could now be set for a stunning return to the club.

Wanderers played out a 1-1 draw with Fulham in their final game at Molineux.

Mateus Mane scored from outside the box for Wolves, but then conceded a penalty which Antonee Robinson converted.

Fans have endured some very tough times this season at Molineux.

But there were some lighter moments on Sunday, as former striker Raul Jimenez took to the field.

He didn’t start the game, but came on after 67 minutes.

He got a great reception and after the game, a very intriguing report emerged to suggest Jimenez could actually come back to Wolves this summer.

May Wolves fans have long wondered if a return to Molineux for Jimenez could happen.

Now, the E&S have reported that it actually could be.

The publication released an article last night that included quotes from Jimenez talking up a potential second spell.

He said: “Why not? There is always a possibility. Let’s see.

“It would be nice, more after today, let’s see.”

Asked if a move could happen this summer, he added: “I don’t know, maybe. But I don’t know.”

What Jimenez said shortly after leaving Wolves in 2023 could be significant

It would be quite something if Wolves’ transfer business this summer included a move for Jimenez, who spent five years at Molineux from 2018 to 2023.

He was adored here by fans, and feared by opposition defenders.

The way his time ended though was disappointing, with Julen Lopetegui infamously denying him the chance to play in the final home game of 2022/23 against Everton.

So perhaps a second spell could indeed be on the cards.

And what Jimenez said just a couple of months after leaving Wolves may now be significant.

He said: “It was difficult for me to leave Wolverhampton after five years. I had really good moments and some not very good moments as well.

“But we really enjoyed (it). Me as a footballer, my family. We were really good, our life there was really good. We really miss them. But also, we are good here. We’ve been doing great here (at Fulham), we’re settled now.”

Jimenez will be out of contract this summer and therefore be a free agent. If Wolves can come to an agreement over wages, then surely there’s every chance of a return.
