Wolves take on Fulham today in their final home game of the season – and Raul Jimenez will be back at Molineux.

Following a week that saw Rob Edwards, Matt Jackson and Nathan Shi front up to supporters at the Fan Forum, it’s back to business at Molineux, as Wolves seek to atone for the loss at Brighton.

Would this Wolves team be capable of getting anything in the final home game vs Fulham? 🤔

Let us know if you'd make any changes…

Wanderers gave a horrible display last weekend at the Amex, prompting Edwards to criticise the players and admit several need to be sold.

Fulham are in town today, and are eyeing a league double over Wolves for the first time.

And someone who could achieve that for them is Raul Jimenez, who enjoyed some fine years at Molineux, which has the chance to properly pay tribute to the striker today after he was denied that moment a few years ago.

Raul Jimenez can get the farewell from Molineux he never got

He may have left three years ago, but Jimenez remains hugely popular with the Wolves fans.

The Mexican gave four years of service to the Old Gold, and established himself as one of the most fearsome strikers in the division before his awful head injury.

But towards the end of the 2022/23 season, Jimenez had fallen out of favour with Julen Lopetegui, who preferred to use the likes of Diego Costa and Hwang Hee-chan up front.

In the final home game that season against Everton, Lopetegui kept Jimenez on the bench, starting Hwang and Pablo Sarabia up top.

Lopetegui used five substitutes, but didn’t put Jimenez on. This, despite the game having nothing riding on it.

After the game, the Wolves players made their way around the pitch to thank fans for their support, and Jimenez was in tears.

He was denied a moment he should have been given.

So today, he may be lining up for the opposition in Wolves’ final home game at Molineux, but this is a nice opportunity for the home fans to show him the love they would have done three years, but for Lopetegui’s classless move.

He actually missed Fulham’s last game with a knock. But he’s expected to be available for today’s game and he will surely play if he’s fully recovered.

And he is certainly deserving of a show of warmth.

Jimenez scored 57 goals in 166 games for Wolves, and also made 23 assists.

Jimenez almost lost his playing career, and even life, playing for Wanderers, so hopefully those at Molineux will park their feelings of anger towards the current crop at times to pay tribute to one of the best players to ever pull on the shirt.

He’s been back to Molineux a few times since leaving, but with this being the last game of Wolves’ season, it does just feel a bit more significant this time with Jimenez coming back after what happened.
