Wolves are looking to build a competitive squad for the 2026/27 season – but there remains speculation that Pedro Lima could leave. Put simply, the club can’t let this happen.
It has already been a fairly positive start to the summer, albeit slightly chaotic too with the change of manager.
But the dust has now settled on the sacking of Rob Edwards and appointment of Cesar Peixoto, and Wolves are looking to create a squad that can get promoted automatically, at the first time of asking.
Should any of these NOT be on this list? And are there any who aren’t there who SHOULD be on? 🤔
The Athletic have claimed Wolves would like these nine players to stay after relegation…
All eyes are on who will come in.
But it will also be fascinating to see who ends up leaving.
As we’ve already seen with Andre, it’s not easy to predict who will go and who’ll stick around.
Pedro Lima has been the subject of speculation since the end of last season, but Wolves need to strongly consider keeping the Brazilian.
Why Wolves shouldn’t entertain Pedro Lima exit

It was reported recently that Wolves wanted to head into the new season with Trippier and Lima as their right-back options.
It’s expected Jackson Tchatchoua will depart, and if Wolves are switching to a back four, then surely Rodrigo Gomes will play as a winger.
So it would not make sense for the club to allow Lima to leave.
We must then also consider his potential.
Lima arrived at Wolves with exciting potential, but he hasn’t really been able to show that yet.
But ultimately, he is a young player with a high ceiling, and the fact Chelsea were so keen to sign him before Wolves hijacked the deal perhaps speaks volumes.
Lima was handed a string of opportunities towards the end of last season by Edwards, which would have done him the world of good ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Trippier is likely going to be the first-choice pick at right-back for Peixoto, but Lima would surely still get opportunities.
Ultimately, Trippier is now in his mid-thirties, and the Championship season is demanding. He will need rotating here and there, and may also need replacing in-game at times.
It would be a real shame if Wolves sent Lima – who has been linked with Shakhtar Donetsk – out on loan or sold him, especially since Trippier is now on the scene.
Quite possibly, the veteran could do wonders for Lima’s development, having so much experience under his belt.
That signing could actually be the making of Lima at Wolves, so hopefully Wolves won’t give into temptation and offload him.
It’s official, Kieran Trippier is a Wolf! 🚨 How important a signing will he be for the club?
The full-back is the first addition of the summer for the Old Gold… 🐺
It’s currently being reported by RTI Esporte that Atletico Mineiro are showing interest in Lima, and want to sign him on loan with an option to buy of around €4 million.
That doesn’t feel particularly wise, and the buy option feels quite low.
Wolves can always just see how things have panned out for Lima and then assess the situation in January to see if a loan is needed.
But certainly for now, Wolves should be looking to keep the player, who has a great platform (experience in the Premier League and Trippier for a new teammate) to make an impact for Wanderers in 2026/27.
