Bruno Lage has given an extensive interview to Wolves’ YouTube channel.
In it, he talked about the strength of the squad he wants at Molineux, with two top players competing for every position.
Nuno Espirito Santo preferred to work with a smaller squad, which meant that injuries had a big impact last season.
But Lage made it clear he wants to have fierce competition for places all over the pitch.

“The most important thing is to be competitive,” he said. “I speak with our chairman (Jeff Shi) one or two times per week. I speak with our sporting director (Scott Sellars) every day.
“They know, I believe, that the players should be competitive. That’s why I believe we need to create a competitive squad. I want two good players in each position.
“Sometimes I joke with the players; you need to go to bed and dream of your [rival] who is ready to compete with you for your place. If you create that dynamic, I will be more happy because I have solutions.
“For the players also, it is good for him because the level is good and they are competing. They can improve. It’s good for the fans because we can win more games and they are more happy.”

Some Wolves fans had their say on the comments on Twitter.
One supporter said they call to mind what Jose Mourinho said at Chelsea back in February 2005 when asked about Ashley Cole: “It’s true I want to buy a left-back because I only have one. I always want two for every position.”
When you’re as rich as Chelsea under Roman Abramovich, that’s a realistic prospect.
Given how Wolves’ summer has gone so far, they’re a little way off. That was certainly the view of some fans on Twitter:
