Wolves are looking to construct a squad that will hopefully get them promoted back to the Premier League – but Yerson Mosquera may not be in it.
Wanderers are playing in the Championship in 2026/27 after getting relegated from the Premier League, and the goal is to bounce straight back up.
There hasn’t been a great deal of activity so far, and given there is a huge amount to do, that is a slight concern.
Wolves fans, talk to us about Yerson Mosquera…
Does his ability and potential make up for the chaos he brings? What kind of level do you see him reaching? 🤔
Wolves have signed two players on free transfers in Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez.
But there hasn’t been much going on in terms of outgoings, with Matt Doherty the only confirmed departure so far.
But Yerson Mosquera could yet leave, and one wonders if that will have Nasser Djiga intrigued.
Yerson Mosquera eyed by Rennes which could hand Nasser Djiga Wolves chance
It’s now been reported by Ouest France that Yerson Mosquera has emerged as a target for French club Rennes.
This follows suggestions that Mosquera also had Premier League interest, and it seems that the Colombian defender has a genuine chance to leave this summer.
That could be a bit of a shame because, on the face of it, Mosquera has attributes that could see him thrive in the Championship and really help Wolves’ cause. Specifically, his aggression.
But Mosquera leaving also does raise another possibility.
Nasser Djiga spent last season away from Wolves, playing on loan at Rangers, for whom he featured quite heavily.
He made 42 appearances for nearly 3500 minutes, and it was a good learning curve for the Burkina Faso international, who looked shaky when he played for Wolves after joining from Red Star Belgrade.

Djiga drew praise for his aerial dominance and strength during his time at Ibrox.
He had some uncomfortable outings early on in his stint under Russell Martin, but improved a lot once Danny Rohl came in.
Rangers are not buying Djiga, so it seems there could well be an opening for Djiga at Wolves – especially if Mosquera leaves. Ladislav Krejci has also been linked with an exit.
But as a right-footer, he could be a direct replacement for the South American, and the physicality Wolves would lose with Mosquera could be covered by Djiga.
Wolves will spend this summer, but it’s also about being clever. Djiga – who has actually been linked with a return to Red Star – is already on the books and could be a useful option.
That said, Cesar Peixoto will need to take a look at him in pre-season. Hopefully, he is finally ready to make his mark.
