Wolves have caused a major stir today, after their sacking of Rob Edwards out of the blue.

Reports surfaced late last night to suggest his position wasn’t safe and sure enough, today the club have parted company with him.

Cesar Peixoto will soon be unveiled as his replacement.

Players and staff are said to be angry about this move, which has come extremely unexpectedly.

Some reports in Portugal have indicated that talks started about a month ago. But Jorge Mendes being busy with other managerial moves apparently meant there was no movement until now.

Over the last few hours more and more details have emerged about this development – and now, it’s been shared who the main driving force was behind it.

It will perhaps be little surprise for fans to know that Guo Guangchang, the chairman of Fosun, was the man to take the initiative on the Edwards sacking.

He is said to have taken a far more hands-on approach, with Wolves executive chairman Nathan Shi still lacking experience.

Could Wolves’ messy sacking of Rob Edwards now derail the club’s summer and promotion bid? 🤔

Guangchang was unconvinced by results last season, and has wielded the axe.

It perhaps makes sense that Nathan Shi wasn’t the main person in the removal of Edwards. After all, it is a huge call, that could perhaps only have come from the very top.

But to suggest that he knew nothing about what was coming is perhaps fanciful.

The development is now bound to cause issues, and indeed, it’s already been made clear that this has upset and angered people behind the scenes, including the players.

Wolves had looked to have turned the corner recently in terms of their decision-making.

But what has transpired over the last 24 hours is seismic, and has given a lot of fans fresh concerns.

Of course, some are actually happy that Edwards has gone. After all, his results were not great.

But the nature of his sacking is so poor, and the optics are getting worse as the day goes on and more details emerge.

There are now unhappy players in that dressing room, and it also doesn’t send out a good message to would-be signings, who may not want to join a club that can treat people in this way.
