Wolves are looking to get promoted back to the Premier League at the first time of asking, and to do that the Old Gold need a team that has quality, depth and a clear identity.

2025/26 was an utterly dismal season that resulted in relegation.

But fans are now starting to allow themselves to look forward to the 2026/27 season, with a rebuild in the offing.

Who should Nathan Shi and Matt Jackson be looking to bring in at Wolves this summer? 🤔

Let's hear your suggestions – and they don't have to be any of the four players pictured!

Raul Jimenez, Kieran Trippier, Jordan James and Nikolas Polster are some of the early links ahead of the summer window opening…

Wolves will now ship out several players, and the task is to replace them with ones who will be suitable for the second tier.

It looks as though Kieran Trippier will be the first new signing, with a deal in place for the veteran defender to sign on a free.

Wolves have also kept hold of Andre, who signed a new contract.

Ahead of the new season, Rob Edwards has now shared his vision for the team he wants to construct.

Wolves’ squad in 2025/26 simply wasn’t good enough for the Premier League.

And the reason for that was poor recruitment, which cannot be allowed to happen this time around ahead of playing in the Championship.

Nathan Shi has actually made a good start as chairman after he replaced Jeff Shi last Christmas, and hopefully he and technical director Matt Jackson can both deliver for Edwards, who needs a good start to the new season.

For a lot of people, it hasn’t been too clear what Wolves’ identity has been under Edwards since he came in. In his defence, he inherited a real mess created by the likes of Jeff Shi, Vitor Pereira and Domenico Teti.

But for the Championship, he’s now shared his vision.

He said (via Wolves official): “We want to be an aggressive team. We want to be able to play on the front foot. We want to be able to dominate and create chances.

“That’s been really difficult for us to do this year and we’ve had to be different to that, even in games where we’ve been able to pick up results, we’ve not necessarily done it in the way we want to have been able to do it.

“We want to be more dynamic and aggressive, playing forward more, and we obviously want the game to be in a different area of the pitch to where it has been a lot of this year, where we’ve been forced to play this year. There’s hope that it can look very different going forward.”

It will be particularly interesting to see if Edwards looks to change formation.

In the last couple of games of 2025/26, we saw Wolves try to play with a back four, which then became a five out of possession.

But ultimately, the most important thing right now is to recruit well.

What do you make of Wolves moving for Kieran Trippier? 🤔

Matt Jackson confirmed there are plans to bring in leaders, and exciting forwards, so it’s important they deliver on that.

It will also be very much about landing players who know this league. More signings like Adam Armstrong could be useful.

Edwards promised Andre that Wolves would build a competitive squad – now it’s about getting it done, and preparing this club for a proper promotion push.
