Wolves are now looking to the 2026/27 season after being relegated from the Premier League – and midfielder Andre will be coming along for the ride.

Wanderers’ stay in the Premier League is officially over after eight years, and a big rebuild will now be taking place.

Wolves will need to ship out several players, and bring in individuals that suit the club’s needs and playing in the second tier.

Matt Jackson said at the recent Fan Forum that the club are looking to sign leaders, so ideally we’ll see two or three arrive.

After signing his new deal, Andre will now be staying at Wolves and hopefully he’ll also be acting as one of the leaders in the group next term.

That new deal came as a real surprise, but Andre has suggested one big factor encouraged him to sign.

Rob Edwards, Matt Jackson and Nathan Shi all reacted to Andre signing his new contract last week.

And shortly after, Andre himself outlined some of the reasons why he committed his future to the Old Gold.

And potentially, one promise from Rob Edwards may well have played a big part.

He said: “Rob said he has complete confidence in me and he promised me that he was going to build a very competitive team this season, that the club is only thinking about returning to the Premier League this season.

“I am very happy for all the trust that he has given me and for all the conversations. I believe we will have a great team not only for this year, but for the coming seasons as well.”

There will be a lot of changes to the squad.

But work is already well underway to prepare it in the best way, and hopefully the retention of Andre will now pave the way for a slightly better calibre of player to arrive.

Wolves keeping him sends out a real message.

Most expected him to move on, but he’s now going to stick around and there is no overstating how big a boost that is – he could very easily have gone and played for either a club competing in Europe or for a team trying to qualify for Europe.

He seems confident that Wolves’ squad is going to be in a healthy position ahead of the 2026/27.

Hopefully, Edwards and the hierarchy can fulfil their promise to Andre, and give the fans a team they can be proud of again.
