Matt Jackson gave Wolves fans an insight into the types of players the club will target this summer.
The club’s technical director appeared at last night’s Fan Fosun event at Molineux, where he was able to tell fans a bit about the plan for this summer.
What do you make of the decision to make Nathan Shi the permanent executive chairman? 🤔
Has he convinced you so far that he's the right man for the job?
As we all saw, Wolves made a complete and utter hash of their recruitment last summer.
It was mainly handled by Vitor Pereira and Domenico Teti, with the recruitment team taking a bit of a back seat. Agent Jorge Mendes and his right-hand man Valdir Cardoso also worked with the pair.
The players that came in were not suitable relative to Wolves’ position of losing a number of established stars.
And the club have been made to pay with relegation.
As expected, recruitment was a big topic at the Forum last night, and Jackson outlined the type of players that’ll be targeted.
Matt Jackson reveals desirables for Wolves ahead of recruitment drive
A fan spoke passionately about players Wolves have had down the years, including leaders like Conor Coady and Ruben Neves, and exciting forwards.
Jackson was the asked by host Daz Hale about the actual process of recruitment.

He replied: “Essentially we have the whole world to choose from The scouting network is a filtering process. We have a big network of scouts. Some are based domestically, some are based abroad permanently who are responsible for their own regions. And that’s backed up by a data department as well.
“I have friends within the clubs you’ve mentioned. Brentford and Brighton are outstanding examples of data driven recruitment departments, driven by the gambling industry that’s underpinned those clubs, It’s an unbelievable system what they have in place, with a massive amount of investment into that back ed.
We and many other clubs haven’t got that level of infrastructure behind us. But we do our part from there.
This filtering process takes place, we know from the scouting perspective the type of team that we’re trying to put together, the individuals we need. You sir have absolutely nailed the attributes that we have identified that we need this summer – and scarily to the core of exactly what we need. That is exactly what we’re looking for (leaders, forwards, particularly top quality wingers).”
Jackson also confirmed that Wolves have already laid some groundwork on some potential signings, which was positive to hear.
Ultimately, Wolves were far too slow last summer recruiting players.
So it’s encouraging to hear that work is already being done.
Who do you think has been the worst signing Wolves made in the 2025 summer window? 🤔
Krejci and Moller Wolfe surely aren't in the mix…
But of course, for now it’s all talk. Jackson must back up his words with actions if Wolves are to rise again.
The acquisition of leaders this summer will be absolutely crucial. Wolves’ dressing room in 2025/26 just has not had that, and it’s something that must be addressed.
Seemingly they’re fully aware of that, and they must now deliver.
