After Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester City, Wolves have now scored just one goal in their last six matches.
That is a really poor record and a concern for Bruno Lage and Wolves fans going into Wednesday night’s clash with Brighton.
At his pre-match press conference ahead of that match against Graham Potter’s side, Lage was unsurprisingly asked about that lean spell and addressed it.
Wolves will be without Raul Jimenez for the clash at the Amex Stadium and scoring goals will be made even harder by the absence of their suspended talisman.
Fabio Silva may need to step up, but Lage clearly feels Wolves are playing well enough to have notched up a few more goals than they currently have.
The recent run has been in sharp contrast to the first games of the season, where Wolves also went goalless but were creating chances at will.
There have not been as many chances of late, but Lage clearly feels that enough is being produced in attacking areas to feel that the drought will end soon.
Lage’s long-term vision appears to be to make Wolves more proactive and free-flowing but he is building on what Nuno Espirito Santo created and with largely the same players.
Those changes will take longer and whichever tactics he goes with, he needs his players to put the ball in the back of the net when the chances come their way.
