Yerson Mosquera finally made his first Wolves start of the season last night.
But it ended early as he picked up an injury after just nine minutes and was replaced by Conor Coady.
It’s another fitness setback after the start of his Wolves career was delayed by a pre-season injury.
As per the Express and Star, Bruno Lage spoke about Mosquera’s fitness after the game.
“Maybe it’s a muscular problem. “It happened in pre-season and he worked very well to recover,” said Lage.
“He’s been training with us for around one month and played with the under-23s, so it was a big surprise and very disappointing for him.
“He’s a great kid and a good player for us – for the present and the future. He doesn’t deserve that, after five minutes, to come out.
“But this is football. Now is the time to give all the confidence and time to return stronger.”
Frustrating night
Mosquera’s first season at Wolves is yet to get up and running.
It is a frustrating scenario which casts further scrutiny on the club’s failure to sign an experienced central defender in the summer.
The most annoying aspect is we saw in pre-season Mosquera could well be worth the wait, with the raw talent he has.
He could even form part of a new, youthful backline with Max Kilman but injury could well have set him back significantly. We’ll wait for further updates.
