Rio Ferdinand was in the studio on punditry duty for BT Sport for Wolves’ trip to face Manchester City today.
Ferdinand reacted to the decision to give City a penalty which won them the game when Raheem Sterling converted his 100th Premier League goal.
He felt it was not a penalty and that Jon Moss and VAR came to the wrong decision and it ultimately cost Wolves dearly with a 1-0 defeat.

“It can’t be a penalty! It’s more not a penalty than a penalty,” said Ferdinand. “I can’t see how it has been given. Even there on the slo-mo, it doesn’t touch his arm.
“It hits his body and then goes out of play. When there’s a situation like this and you call on VAR, does it look more of a penalty than it doesn’t?
“Look at Moutinho’s reaction! He cannot believe that has been given. I’m more confused with VAR now. That’s what it does now and then.
“It has added even more grey areas. If I was confused before, I’m even more confused now. No way is it a penalty.”

There cannot be many out there who felt it was a penalty, and Wolves will feel aggrieved with the way the game was lost.
It was a resolute defensive performance and it seemed City did not know quite how to break Wolves down until the penalty offered them a gift.
Raul Jimenez had to be sent off by the letter of the law but the spot-kick decision is a frustrating one because so many players did so well defensively.
