Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch has delivered his verdict on Raul Jimenez’s red card as well as praising two Wolves men.
At his post-match press conference, Marsch hailed the qualities of Molineux duo Daniel Podence and Joao Moutinho after his side’s 3-2 win.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, he said he felt that Raul’s red card was justified – and that was the moment which swung the game Leeds’ way.
When asked if the red card brought the game Leeds’ way, he said: “Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. I think we had a really good start to the half and I think we push the half, but certainly the red card helped massively.
“I think again, I think it’s definitely a double yellow. It’s deserved. No question for me.
“You’re worried about the players being too passive and then Wolves being able to beat you with some of their position-play and their attacking midfielders moving around.
“Podence is such a good player, Moutinho is such a good player that when they have time and space they they can kill you. So, we made the match-plan the way we did.”
Wolves were the better side 11 vs 11 and if Raul had not been sent off, it does not take too much of a leap of imagination to say the game would have been a home win.
But the red card came and Wolves did not deal with it well at all, panicking defensively and conceding sloppy goals which are out of character.
That is something they need to work on after the international break because the pressure is on now and they need to cope with his better.
