Wolves transfer news: Lots of enquiries already coming in for Fabio Silva

Wolves are reportedly already fielding a lot of enquiries about Fabio Silva’s availability for next season – but the club don’t want to sell.

The striker is coming to the end of his loan spell with PSV Eindhoven.

The Portuguese has enjoyed a really productive season in 2022/23, scoring 16 goals in total across stints with Anderlecht and PSV.

Wolves officials wanted him to get lots of minutes this season, after struggling for game time at Molineux in 2021/22.

He played second fiddle to Raul Jimenez throughout last season, and so the decision was made to get him out on loan.

The two spells he’s had this season have done a lot for him in terms of his development. And Silva will return to Wolves in the summer for talks about the next step for him.

If it was up to him, he would be staying on loan with PSV for longer. He has thoroughly enjoyed his time there, and it was claimed recently that Silva is keen to continue developing away from Wolves for the time being.

But it has been suggested previously that Julen Lopetegui wants him back for pre-season training so he can take a look at him.

Eindhovens Dagblad are now reporting that Wolves are already fielding quite a few enquiries about Silva.

They say Wolves don’t want to sell the £80,000-a-week player.

That is understandable – Wolves forked out £35.6 million for him in the summer of 2020 and want to give him time to prove his worth.

Ruud van Nistelrooy has stated more than once now that he wants to keep hold of Silva for PSV.

Fabio Silva staying at Wolves for next season is feeling unlikely

Silva has clearly been developing really well this term, with several clubs now looking to add him to their squad.

Between his comments about how he’d happily stay put, and van Nistelrooy suggesting PSV will speak with Wolves about extending his loan, it just feels unlikely he’ll be in a Wolves shirt next season.

But it’s all speculation right now.

Lopetegui will undoubtedly be sitting him down and having a chat with him in the off-season.

The manager will want to see where his head is at. It’s possible the Spaniard will be keen to get him involved more with the first-team after his productive year away from Molineux.
