Wolves striker Fabio Silva is keen to stay out on loan next season in order to continue his development.
That is the claim today from the Express & Star, who mention interest from Wolves in Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres.
Silva has been with PSV Eindhoven since January, after starting the season with Anderlecht.
Wolves decided to facilitate a fresh move for the youngster, feeling his game may have been about to dip in Belgium.
Silva has been enjoying himself over in the Netherlands, making 16 appearances so far and scoring five goals.
He got 11 for Anderlecht, taking his tally to 16 for the 2022/23 season so far, which is a good return.
Silva has just had one of his proudest career moments to date with PSV. On Sunday night, he stepped up to score the winning penalty in the shootout against Ajax in the Dutch Cup.
His brilliant spot-kick was praised by manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, and Silva’s name has now been written into the club’s history books.
Prior to this, Silva stated publicly that he would happily stay at PSV beyond the current season.
According to Wolves sporting director Matt Hobbs earlier this year, Julen Lopetegui wants Silva to report back for pre-season training.
He seemingly wants to take a look at him so, it remains to be seen which club he will be playing for at the start of 2023/24.
But the Express & Star report Silva himself is keen to ‘continue his improvement away from Wolves next campaign’.
Wolves have a big decision to make this summer with Fabio Silva
So Silva is keen to continue playing away from Molineux at least for the time being.
The time away from Wolves so far does seem to have brought him on as a player.
It has been a productive period for the 20-year-old, who has managed to get regular minutes in two new leagues and score goals.
It’s going to be very interesting to see what happens with him this summer.
It’s been claimed Lopetegui wants to take a look at him. But if he doesn’t particularly want to be at Wolves then the manager has a big decision to make. Does he try and change Silva’s stance by promising to make him the main man? Or does he permit him another loan move?
