Flamengo are reportedly wanting a resolution to the Joao Gomes transfer saga by Friday, as the club take on Palmeiras in the Supercopa do Brasil final.
Wolves are hoping to get a deal for the midfielder done.
It was reported yesterday that they are confident, with Gomes maintaining he does not want to join Lyon.
Lyon came in with a higher offer than Wolves, and even sent owner John Textor to go and speak with the player.
But he apparently couldn’t convince Gomes.
The youngster is set on coming to the Premier League with Wolves, who did actually see their original offer accepted by Flamengo.
The situation will be concluding very soon, with the January transfer window closing next Tuesday.
But Flamengo don’t really want this situation going into the weekend.
According to Globo Esporte, the club are expecting a resolution before the squad travels to Brasilia on Friday.
On Saturday night, Flamengo are taking on Palmeiras in the final of the Supercopa do Brasil.
It is stated that if it is not all sorted out by then, then a decision will be taken on Gomes by the board about whether he will feature in the game.
Wolves may reach Joao Gomes breakthrough very soon, as report claims Brazilian club want resolution by Friday
It sounds as though officials at Flamengo don’t really want this transfer situation going on while the squad is preparing to face Palmeiras.
It’s understandable they’d want it wrapping up quite quickly so everyone can focus.
But it remains to be seen if Flamengo will cave.
At the moment it doesn’t appear Wolves will be raising their offer.
The club know Gomes wants to come and are seemingly banking on Flamengo facilitating the move as per the original agreement.
