Wolves transfer news: Adama Traore to Napoli almost a done deal

Wolves winger Adama Traore is close to sealing a move to Napoli, according to reports in Italy.

The Spaniard’s contract only has a few months left to run at Molineux.

Julen Lopetegui has been open about wanting Traore to sign an extension at the club. And the player likes working under him. But there have been no indications he is willing to do that.

Traore has had offers to continue his time at the club.

But it seems as though he has wanted to see how things will pan out in the coming months.

He’s been utilised a fair bit since Lopetegui came in, but Traore may simply be ready for a new chapter.

According to Napoli Piu, the current Serie A leaders are closing in on Traore. They say there is talk of it being almost a ‘done deal’.

Napoli see him as a replacement for Mexico international Hirving Lozano, who is also out of contract at the end of the season.

The claim comes after it had been suggested Napoli had put a wage offer to the player.

Napoli are on course to win the title this season having enjoyed a near perfect start to 2022/23.

They’ve won 18 of their 21 games, drawing two and losing just one. They’ve scored 51 goals and conceded just 15.

They will almost certainly be in the Champions League next season, which is bound to appeal to Traore, who has only ever played in the Europa League.

Adama Traore would be greatly missed at Wolves as Napoli reportedly close in

Traore, 27, still has a lot of critics because of his end product.

Undoubtedly, it should be better than it is and his goals and assist numbers should be higher.

But that does not mean that Traore wouldn’t be really missed by Wolves if he left.

With him, there is always the potential for him to flip a game on its head. And although he doesn’t always get his final ball right, he, at the very least, occupies defenders and is a nightmare to deal with.

He creates chaos, causes havoc and is totally unique.

If he is going to join Napoli when his Wolves contract expires, then it really would be a sad sight seeing him go. There is also the notion that football is entertainment at the end of the day. And there aren’t many more entertaining players in the game than Traore when he’s on it.
