The 26-year-old has had extension offers from Wolves, but has been reluctant to sign.

The Spaniard has previously not given any indication he would like to continue at Molineux. But Julen Lopetegui has now come in, and it’s possible the picture could change if the new manager really gets the best out of him.

But it feels unlikely, given how long Traore has now been at Wolves and the fact he’s about to enter his peak years.

It feels like he wants to new chapter – and Napoli are waiting in the wings to sign him.

According to journalist Alfredo Pedulla via his official website, the Italian giants are in constant dialogue with Traore’s representatives.

He states that Traore does actually have other offers on the table, including from the Premier League.

Recently, Traore has again been linked with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United.

But he is considering Napoli, who are currently blowing away the competition over in Serie A.

They sit top of the league by eight points, and are playing some of the best football of any club in Europe.

Adama Traore would make a brilliant signing for Napoli, but Wolves need to keep him beyond January

Wolves need to make sure they keep hold of January beyond next month’s transfer window.

Wanderers are in a precarious position right now.

It is possible a relegation battle could be on the cards and so, there is more value in keeping Traore, who can be a gamechanger.

He is still quite inconsistent with his end product. But Traore will always occupy defenders and just cause headaches.

The £18 million man is a menace to deal with and while he has the potential to turn games on their heads, he should not be offloaded.

It feels like there’s a decent chance of him staying to work with Lopetegui.

He would then be free to depart if he still wanted, hopefully leaving Wolves still as a Premier League club.
