Wolves are reportedly eyeing two defenders from Ligue 1 in Duje Caleta-Car and Benoit Badiashile.
Wanderers fans were frustrated last week when the club released a statement about transfer plans for this month.
Scott Sellars has said it is certain the club won’t be signing a large number of new players.
But that doesn’t mean that no one will come in.
And Bruno Lage has reiterated his desire to strengthen at centre-back.
And it seems Wolves may yet bring one in, with Sky Sports News reporting this morning that the club are now eyeing Marseille star Caleta-Car and Badiashile of AS Monaco.
Caleta-Car was heavily linked with a move to Molineux during the last transfer window.
The Croatia international is apparently also wanted by Newcastle.
Badiashile, described as ‘an exciting prospect’ by GFFN, is also on the club’s radar.
Interestingly, the 20-year-old has also been linked with a move to Wolves before.
L’Equipe reported in the summer of 2019 that the club were prepared to pay £35 million. But that bid was never forthcoming.
Caleta-Car, 25, has been described previously by ligue1.com as ‘intimidating’ and having ‘laser-sighted distribution’ and ‘impressive pace’.
Encouraging claims as Wolves eye Caleta-Car and Badiashile again
By this point, most Wolves fans accept that the club will not be particularly busy in terms of incomings this month.
So arguably, many would take just one new face so long as the club does something.
Wolves signing either Caleta-Car or Badiashile would be very exciting.
Badiashile in particular is a player with huge potential and could well be the next big centre-back talent emerging for France – a nation that has produced many fantastic players in that position in recent years.
