‘My information is’: Journalist says Wolves set to make final bid for £25m gem this week

Wolves are reportedly set to make a third and final bid for Bristol City midfielder Alex Scott this week.

Wanderers still haven’t spent a penny this summer.

So far, just two players have come in.

Goalkeeper Tom King and Matt Doherty have both arrived but as free agents, as Wolves seek to offload more players.

Conor Coady, Ruben Neves, Nathan Collins, Raul Jimenez, Dion Sanderson and Ryan Giles have all gone so far.

But Wanderers are thought to need more.

But that has not stopped speculation about Wolves’ interest in Scott…

Wolves set to bid for Alex Scott again this week

According to journalist Dean Jones, the plan is for Wolves to make another bid for Scott this week.

The club have already seen two offers rejected.

Earlier this year it was suggested that the Robins would be holding out for about £25 million.

That is a huge amount of money for Wolves to pay for one player in their current predicament.

But Jones believes the club will come forth again. He told Give Me Sport: “Wolves have been putting together a third and final bid for him, and my information is that should happen by the start of next week.

“The £25m valuation has put off all the bigger Premier League clubs so far because they realise he probably won’t be impacting their starting XI at this stage.

“But with Wolves, there is more of an opportunity to use their mass clear-out as an opportunity to shine in the Premier League and to use it as a platform to show what he is capable of.”

It was suggested earlier this year that Scott likes Wolves, and would be open to a move to Molineux.

Julen Lopetegui is also said to absolutely love the player and what he is about.

Wolves signing Alex Scott would give the fans such a lift

It remains to be seen if Wolves are in a position right now to send in a third bid for Scott.

But it is very clear at this point that he is a player the club really like and want.

Had it not been for the situation with FFP, perhaps Scott would already be a Wolves player by now.

It is really frustrating the fans, but if Scott does sign after all then it would give supporters such a boost.

There is a lot of concern and pessimism right now.

But if the club can somehow get a deal for the talented Scott over the line, then the mood would change significantly.
