Mateus Mane has been a bright spark in an otherwise dark season for Wolves – and his latest comments are bound to go down well with fans.

Wolves have just one final game remaining this season, which is against Burnley this Sunday at Turf Moor.

There’s an opportunity to leapfrog the Clarets and finish 19th, with two points the difference heading into the final day.

Most supporters cannot wait for the campaign to end, because it has truly been a disaster.

But one man who can hold his head fairly high is Mateus Mane.

After the sacking of Vitor Pereira, Mane was given a show of faith by Rob Edwards, and has been a regular starter for Wolves throughout 2026.

Naturally, he has drawn attention for the way he’s burst onto the scene.

But Mane appears to be ready to stay.

Top clubs have been keeping tabs on Mane since his breakthrough, and there have been some nervous Wolves fans fearing he could be poached this summer.

A few days ago though, Rob Edwards stated that he was 100% sure Mane would be staying.

And now, Mane himself has indicated he’ll be sticking around with some very refreshing remarks.

He is quoted by the E&S as saying: “Definitely (expects to remain at Wolves), we’ll see what happens this summer. I will just try my best to get Wolves back up in the Premier League where it belongs.

“Definitely, I came and they worked on me very well. They took me on board and now I have got to give it back to them.

“I’ve got a few goals, got a few assists, but now it’s time to keep working, keep moving, keep fighting, and next season, we’ve got to work hard to try and get the club back to where we want it to be, in the Premier League.”

The comments really are refreshing.

It would be quite easy for Mane to play his cards a bit closer to his chest, amid interest from big clubs.

Goals – 3

But the teenager clearly has a good head on his shoulders. The part about giving back to the club after they took a chance on him is particularly nice.

The suggestion here is that he’ll be staying, and this would be the right decision for his development. A move for big money at this stage would be far too soon.

A year in the Championship really could be the making of him, and Wolves are obviously going to benefit from keeping him too.
