Mane’s future has been the subject of a lot of speculation amid Wolves’ relegation to the Championship.

Of course, he has been a real bright spark in a dismal season, and plenty of clubs have been looking at him.

His form has tailed off in recent weeks, but today was a reminder of his ability and Edwards was asked about the youngster’s future after the game.

And his answer was encouraging.

He said: “We’re really pleased with him. There’s going to be ups and downs and lots for him to learn. But he’s got a great attitude. I thought overall today his performance was really good. He worked tirelessly. He was really committed.

“The exciting thing is he’s not the finished article. He’s not going to be at his age. There’s a lot there to work with still.”

Asked where it leaves Mane next season, Edwards said without skipping a beat: “With us.”

Edwards: “Yeah he’ll be with us.”

Mane has attracted attention from big clubs, but has previously been urged by Don Goodman to stay at Wolves in the Championship.

Perhaps other clubs will still try to prise him away. And we’ll see just how strong Wolves’ resolve is.

But Edwards’ words are encouraging, and hopefully the youngster will indeed help to spearhead the promotion charge next term.
