With the January transfer window set to open in the coming weeks, here are three Wolves players Gary O’Neil should look to cash in on next month.
It is no secret that money has been an issue for Wolves over 2023. After spending big in the last January transfer window, the club were forced to cut back on spending in the summer.
Multiple players were forced to leave Wolves to raise funds with captain Ruben Neves, Nathan Collins and Matheus Nunes all departing.
Troubles with FFP even saw Julen Lopetegui leave just before the start of the season with O’Neil then taking the helm at Molineux.
Despite multiple sales throughout the last six months, Wolves are still expected to be wary of the spending in January due to these concerns.
Therefore, here are three players O’Neil should look to sell in order for the club to be more competitive in the market.
Fabio Silva

The striker has struggled since his return to the club this season.
After spending the 2022/23 season out on successful loans to Anderlecht and PSV, there were hopes that Silva would come back and lead the Wolves attack.
Both Lopetegui and O’Neil both seemingly liked this idea with the £35 million striker being issued the number nine shirt.
However, after starting three of Wolves’ first four Premier League matches this season, it became quite clear that he wasn’t up to this task. The striker missed an abundance of chances and didn’t net a single goal in the league.
Since a substitute appearance against Liverpool, Silva has only played 17 minutes in the Premier League. This includes his last appearance for the club where he gave away a controversial last-minute penalty against Sheffield United as Wolves lost 2-1.
It has become clear in recent weeks that O’Neil does not rate the striker. There have been multiple times in recent games where Wolves have been looking for a goal but the manager has opted to bring on other players.
His Wolves career is clearly never going to work out and the club should look to cash in as soon as possible. With Silva still only 21 years old and on the back of a good loan spell, Wolves could still get a good fee for the striker.
This money could then be used to buy another striker who is ready to start immediately in the Premier League.
Bruno Jordao

The midfielder has become a forgotten man at Wolves.
After signing alongside Pedro Neto, there was a great deal of promise surrounding Bruno Jordao when he joined the club in 2019. However, things just haven’t worked out for the 25-year-old.
The midfielder hasn’t played a minute for the first team since January 2022 and has mainly spent his last three years out on loan.
With Bruno Jordao also struggling with injuries, O’Neil admitted earlier this year that his time at the club was most likely coming to an end. His contract is set to expire in six months and Wolves should look to cash in on the midfielder before he leaves on a free.
Selling the 25-year-old now would also free up wages for potential new signings or renewed contracts.
Jonny

Jonny just hasn’t been the same since his injuries.
The defender was easily one of Wolves’ best players as he dominated the left flank. However, after two back-to-back ACL injuries, Jonny hasn’t been able to return to past form.
The 29-year-old is now behind both Rayan Ait-Nouri and Hugo Bueno in the pecking order and hasn’t played since Wolves 3-2 loss to Ipswich in the Carabao Cup.
Jonny looks to have sealed his fate in recent weeks after a bust-up at training. Subsequently, the defender has now been banished from first-team training until the end of January.
A loan move next month looks likely for the 29-year-old but, realistically, Wolves should look to sell the defender. It is clear that Jonny is never going to play a big part in the Wolves squad again and the club should look to maximise its profits.
