Wolves moved early for the 23-year-old, signing him last week on loan from Atletico Madrid.

The club will pay to sign him permanently next summer, and the fee will see him become the club’s new record signing.

Just like Hwang at the start of last season, Cunha was present to watch his new team in action against Manchester United at Molineux on Saturday.

He saw Wanderers battle hard but ultimately come up short against the Red Devils. Marcus Rashford came off the bench to score the only goal of the game.

Cunha will now be available for selection for Wolves, and Hwang believes the South American will raises the standards at Molineux.

He said (Express & Star): “Yes. He also played for Leipzig in Germany, and Berlin, we also played against each other for our national teams when we played Brazil.

“So I know him very well. He is a very nice guy and a good player. I am looking forward to playing with him.”

Wolves face Aston Villa on Wednesday, and Cunha will surely be pushing for a start.

So Cunha is now available for selection, and it will be good to see him in action.

Wolves’ biggest issues remains the lack of a cutting edge in the final third.

Wanderers did actually create some good chances against United. But once again when it came to the final action, the team were found wanting.

Julen Lopetegui needs his first signing to come in and hit the ground running.

Ironically, the signing of Cunha could actually be bad news for Hwang.

He plays pretty much the same positions as the South Korean, making him a direct threat to him in terms of getting regular minutes.
