Wolves are again being linked with Goncalo Guedes – and he could cost just £15 million to sign.
The Telegraph have claimed that the Valencia man will be Wanderers’ priority in the next transfer window.
Bruno Lage is said to have been given the green light to make a move for a new striker.
This comes after Wolves drew another blank at the weekend, this time against Burnley.
Wolves have scored just 33 goals so far this season, which gives them the fifth-worst attack in the Premier League.
Raul Jimenez has struggled to get back to the level he was at before his awful head injury last season.
And Fabio Silva, while looking promising, is still lacking ruthlessness in front of goal and is yet to open his account for 2021/22.
Lage has spoken about bringing in another option this summer.
And it appears he could finally get his wish, with Guedes high up on Wolves’ list of targets.
That list also includes Hugo Ekitike of Reims, but Guedes is said to be the priority.
And encouragingly, the Telegraph say he could cost just £15 million to sign. That’s because his contract with Valencia expires in the summer of 2023.
Guedes has enjoyed a really productive season over in La Liga this season.
He’s scored 11 goals in the competition for so, and also grabbed a couple in the Copa del Rey. He has also laid on six assists.
Guedes is capable of playing anywhere in attack, but this season he has mainly operated as a centre-forward or second striker.
Recently, Guedes stated that he would talk to his people at the end of the season about a potential move. For now, he is focusing on finishing the current season with Valencia.
Wolves can grab themselves a bargain with £15 million Guedes transfer
£15 million for Guedes would be great business by Wolves.
This is a player who has really stood out for a team that has had a mediocre season in 2021/22.
He hasn’t always been at the races at Valencia. Sometimes his cause has not been helped by injuries. But this term he has certainly proved his worth with 19 goal contributions in total.
Squawka recently ran a feature on the 25-year-old amid his exploits this term, and described him as ‘fundamental’ for José Bordalás this season. The feature also talked up his ability to complete mazy dribbles and be a tireless worker.
It’s possible that Wolves would be getting someone who could settle pretty quickly at Molineux, given Guedes is Portuguese.
If Valencia really will accept just £15 million for the former PSG star, then Wolves should be all over it.
That said, reports have indicated a few other teams could be in the hunt. So Wolves officials may need to act fairly quickly.
