Wolves transfer news: Goncalo Guedes back on Wolves' radar

Wolves are again being linked with a move for Valencia winger Goncalo Guedes.

According to a report from Estadio Deportivo, the club have sounded out the 25-year-old as a potential addition this summer.

The player’s contract with Valencia expires in the summer of 2023.

It is therefore reasonable to think the club will try to offload him with a year to go, before his value plummets.

With 13 goals this season, it’s likely he won’t be short of interest.

A host of names are mentioned in the report, with Real Madrid and Xavi’s Barcelona also said to be casting glances.

Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma are also said to be in the hunt.

Wolves are mentioned once more, as they have been several times in the past.

Last summer there were claims that Wolves were actually going to bid for Guedes. He supposedly had a valuation of £21.4 million back then.

It is unclear how much he would be worth now. Obviously he’s had a very productive season for Valencia, but his contract is obviously winding down.

It could be that a move becomes dependent on whether Francisco Trincao becomes a Wolves player permanently.

The club have an option to buy him for £25 million at the end of the season. It is currently touch and go as to whether that happens.

But there is a possibility Trincao could be used as a part of a swap deal involving Adama Traore.

Goncalo Guedes one to keep and eye on for Wolves ahead of summer 2022

Guedes is definitely a player for Wolves to be keeping a close eye between now and the end of the season.

He is the highest rated player for Valencia so far this season according to WhoScored.

And in La Liga, he is joint-fifth for most goal contributions with 16.

Wolves have been linked with Guedes several times before and perhaps this summer could be when he finally arrives at Molineux.

As mentioned above, it really could all depend on what happens with Trincao. If he stick around, it’s hard to see there being room for another wide player.

That said, Guedes has operated centrally on occasion this term. Perhaps Bruno Lage would see him as someone who could compete with, or play alongside, Raul Jimenez.
