Wolves transfer news: Nelson Semedo on Atletico Madrid's radar

Wolves star Nelson Semedo is reportedly on Atletico Madrid’s transfer radar.

The Chronicle have today been reporting on the Kieran Trippier to Newcastle United transfer.

It appears that move is going to go through now, with the Magpies supposedly striking a deal to pay an initial £12 million.

The England international is set to become the first signing of their post-takeover era.

But the deal could potentially have consequences for Wolves, with the Chronicle claiming in their report that Molineux star Semedo is on Atletico’s wish list as a possible replacement for the outgoing Trippier.

Current La Liga champions Atleti were actually linked with Semedo back in July.

Semedo has enjoyed a fantastic second season at Wolves so far.

The 28-year-old took last term to find his feet in a new league playing a new position.

He had a shaky start in 2020/21, but started to show signs of improvement at the start of 2021.

This season under Bruno Lage he has been excellent, and looks to be solid in all aspects of his game.

Defensively the £29 million star is sound, and he is a constant outlet operating at right wing-back.

Nelson Semedo is going nowhere as Atletico reportedly eye Wolves defender

There is surely no chance of Nelson Semedo leaving Wolves this month.

The star is now playing his best football since his arrival at the club, and is a crucial player for Wanderers.

Wolves have something good going on with Lage at the helm, and there is real potential for Wolves to become a great side.

Semedo has seemed quite happy at Molineux, and obviously there is a very strong Portuguese contingent at the club.

Atleti may want the former Barcelona man. But Lage wants to keep his squad together this month. He would likely not take too kindly to any approaches for Semedo.
