It was quite the week last week at Wolves, with Rob Edwards losing his job at Molineux.

Edwards and Wolves parted company in dramatic fashion, with reports surfacing the day before that he was set to be replaced by Cesar Peixoto.

Rob Edwards learned about the rumours circulating online, and was informed by family members.

Could Wolves’ messy sacking of Rob Edwards now derail the club’s summer and promotion bid? 🤔

Both players and staff were blind-sided by the decision with plenty left unhappy… 😳

He was then informed by the club.

The move by Wolves has been controversial in its nature, although some do feel that Edwards had really struggled in the job.

Now, Wolves must move on though, and in an ideal world Peixoto will be officially announced soon.

After last week’s bombshell, Edwards has now posted on Instagram.

Edwards was said to be surprised and disappointed about Wolves’ decision to sack him.

Certainly it was brutal, with Edwards having held a meeting just days before that covered signing new players.

He then appeared in Wolves’ media work for the Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez signings.

He’s obviously had a long association with the club, so undoubtedly this must have stung.

But seemingly Edwards is now feeling relatively good. He took to his Instagram Story yesterday to upload a photo of himself on a beach somewhere, all smiles with a couple of drinks in hand.

What is next for Edwards remains to be seen.

His reputation has taken a bit of a hit following his spell at Wolves, but in time he will be considered for opportunities again.

Some will remember what he did in his brief spell at Middlesbrough before he came to Molineux, and surely be willing to give him a chance.

Nathan Shi said about Rob Edwards

After Edwards’ sacking, executive chairman Nathan Shi said of Edwards: “I would like to personally thank Rob and his staff for everything they have given to Wolves during what has been a very difficult period in the club’s recent history.

“Rob accepted the challenge of returning to Wolves at a time when the situation was extremely challenging, and throughout his time here he has conducted himself with professionalism, integrity and commitment.

“This has been an extremely difficult decision. Following the end of the season, we undertook a thorough review of every aspect of the football operation.

“While there were positive signs and areas of progress, we ultimately concluded that a different football direction would better align with the style, identity and level of competitiveness we want to establish at the club.”

Wolves have taken a real gamble, but hopefully it is going to pay off.
