Wolves appear unlikely to meet Nuno Espirito Santo again next season, with the former Old Gold boss on the brink at West Ham United.
On Sunday, the Hammers became the final club to be relegated from the Premier League.
West Ham beat Leeds United 3-0 on the final day. But Spurs managed to get a win too, beating Everton 1-0.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |

West Ham had actually scored first and news did filter through to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
But they dealt with the nerves well, and managed to see out their contest against a poor Everton side.
And it is now being reported that Nuno Espirito Santo is set to leave.
Nuno Espirito Santo set to leave West Ham as Wolves fans call for his return

The Guardian have reported that Nuno ‘has been called in for talks with the board and discussions are likely to end with the Portuguese leaving’.
He would not be drawn on his future in front of the Sky cameras on Sunday.
But it already looks increasingly likely that Nuno won’t be in the dugout for the Hammers’ first game of the season in 2026/27.
Sky Sports reporter Chris Reidy said: “It seems like it could be the end of Nuno Espirito Santo’s time as West Ham head coach.
The talks on Monday are ongoing around his future and we can tell you that West Ham and Nuno have a deal in place where they can release him from his contract without paying any compensation. That’s due to West Ham being relegated.”
Interestingly, The Athletic have listed reasons why things went wrong for Nuno, which are as follows:
- Many players believed the team prepared better for matches under Potter than Nuno
- Nuno often chose not to talk to players during half-time or after matches
- Nuno was unable to bring in his backroom staff from his successful Forest spell
- The manager clashed with assistant Mark Robson during the 3-0 loss at Wolves
Although he actually did get a decent number of points on the board, perhaps these reasons will ultimately see him move on.
Wolves appear to be behind Rob Edwards
With Wolves dropping into the Championship, plenty of fans have already called on the club to make a move for Nuno in the likely event he leaves West Ham.
There has been the narrative of ‘getting the band back together again’ after Raul Jimenez and Romain Saiss were both at Molineux last week for the game with Fulham, with the former then opening the door to a potential return.
Nuno remains hugely popular with the Wolves fans, with many having longed for his return for some time.
Should Rob Edwards still be Wolves’ manager for the start of 2026/27 season? 🤔
If not, let us know in the comments who the club should look to replace him with…
But Rob Edwards appears to still have the backing from his superiors going into next season, despite some really poor performances and a lot of poor results.
Edwards himself has already talked up leading the team into 2026/27 several times, and there are no indications that Nathan Shi isn’t about to give him the chance.
Nuno, of course, guided Wolves out of the Championship back in 2017/2018 so many are hoping to see the start of a second fairytale.
