Wolves have made a move for Kieran Trippier, with the club expected to confirm it soon.
Fans had hoped to see the Old Gold really attack the summer after relegation, and it seems the club are making a positive start.
What do you make of Wolves moving for Kieran Trippier? 🤔
The club have now agreed a deal to sign the defender on a free transfer!
On Friday, it was reported that Wolves had agreed a deal for Trippier, who has left Newcastle United after his contract expired.
There was plenty of competition for Trippier despite his advancing years, with the Wolves project clearly appealing to him.
Trippier is expected to have his medical this week, and for Dave Edwards this is the ideal start to the summer for Wolves.
Dave Edwards lauds Wolves’ move for Kieran Trippier

Trippier had other clubs on his tail, and was also being targeted by Saudi Arabia.
But he’ll play his football at Molineux next season, and his leadership is something that will benefit Wolves massively.
That dressing room has lacked such types in recent times, with Matt Jackson admitting recently that the club were targeting leaders this summer.
Trippier is certainly that, and former midfielder Dave Edwards has backed the move by Wolves. And he reckons there’s a couple of players who’ll be especially better off having him as a teammate.
He said (via E&S): “He’ll bring a calmness to the back line, he brings a bit of versatility as well. We’ve seen him play right back and left back, and if Wolves do end up playing three at the back, he can play at right centre-back or right-wing-back as well. His versatility will really help.
“I think he’ll be a shining example for the younger players like Pedro Lima, in particular in that position, but also for players like Mateus Mane. Trippier is someone they can look up to and they can see what it takes to have a top career.
“I was delighted with the news.”
Mane and Lima could certainly benefit from Trippier’s arrival, with Lima in an especially good position given Trippier is such an experienced right-back. The Brazilian could learn a huge amount if he sticks around.
It may well be that Trippier is considered to be Wolves’ new captain.
Who should Nathan Shi and Matt Jackson be looking to bring in at Wolves this summer? 🤔
Let's hear your suggestions – and they don't have to be any of the four players pictured!
Toti Gomes had the armband in 2025/26, but arguably he is not a natural leader and he also actually didn’t start many games last term.
Trippier is no stranger to captaining teams, and has even skippered England.
So we’ll see if Rob Edwards propels him into the role from the off. But even if he doesn’t, Trippier will still be a top leader and someone who holds others to account.
