Wolves can officially be relegated from the Premier League this weekend, with Leeds United the opponents at Elland Road.

Although there has been renewed hope at Molineux recently after wins over Aston Villa and Liverpool, Wolves are now on the brink.

Wolves will be down if they lose to Leeds and Tottenham Hotspur beat Brighton later in the day.

It’s a situation that many have feared in recent years given the direction of travel under Fosun, and now the reality of relegation is real.

Really, it’s about going down with dignity now for Wolves, who can still finish above Burnley.

Here’s an XI Edwards may go with on Saturday to try and stave off relegation for a little longer.

Predicted Wolves XI to face Leeds, two changes as Yerson Mosquera misses out through suspension

With Sam Johnstone out injured, Jose Sa will keep his place and look to do much better than against West Ham United.

Yerson Mosquera’s silly booking against West Ham means he’s unavailable for the next two matches.

Edwards could go to a back four, but he could also bring Toti Gomes back into the team, and move Ladislav Krejci and Santiago Bueno over a position each.

Jackson Tchatchoua and Hugo Bueno will likely keep their places.

In midfield, there’s no reason why Andre, Joao Gomes and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde can’t start as a trio, with Bellegarde the most advanced.

Adam Armstrong didn’t have much impact against West Ham, so perhaps bringing Tolu Arokodare would be wise here, especially since this is a good moment to look at them together ahead of playing in the Championship next season.

Mateus Mane sadly had a poor cameo against West Ham and may well be kept on the bench.

And Angel Gomes’ influence against the Hammers was minimal, so he could have no complaints if he was benched.

Wolves owe fans a performance after West Ham shambles

Friday night’s performance against West Ham was nowhere near good enough from Wolves.

Some have said that the long rest didn’t do the Old Gold any favours, which may well have been a factor in the defeat.

But the manner in which Wolves gave away the goals in the second-half was unacceptable, and the players need to atone on Saturday.

It is too late for survival.

But Wolves need to have something about them in these final weeks, if anything to pay back the fans who have supported them so unwaveringly through such tough times.
