Daniel Farke makes surprising Wolves admission as Old Gold sit 15 points from safety

Daniel Farke has already suggested Leeds United’s clash with Wolves stands to be one of the toughest games of the Whites’ season.

Wolves are now on the brink of being relegated after losing to West Ham United.

Wanderers are 15 points from safety with six games left and could well drop this weekend.

It’s Leeds up next for Wolves, and Farke’s side head into the game full of confidence after beating Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday.

As badly as Wolves have struggled this season, Farke has suggested this won’t be a routine assignment, as he gave his verdict about Saturday’s game.

Leeds boss Farke wary of Wolves despite relegation being imminent for Old Gold

Farke has issued a clear warning about the challenge Wolves will present this weekend, which may well come as a surprise to some.

He said (via YEP): “Saturday will probably be one of our most difficult games during the whole season, because the expectations are high in the home games right now to win.

“I predict it will be a very difficult game and my focus is already to make sure that we deliver points in the next game.”

Given the contrast between the two clubs’ last results, Leeds will certainly be favourites this weekend.

But Farke is taking nothing for granted feeling the onus is on them to win at Elland Road.

If Wolves turn in a performance like the one against West Ham though, there will be nothing for Leeds to worry about.

Hopefully, Wolves can atone for that dreadful display and show a bit of pride.

Wolves can officially be relegated this weekend

Wolves enter the match with the potential to officially be relegated this weekend.

If they were to lose at Elland Road, they would no longer be able to catch either Nottingham Forest or Leeds.

A Tottenham Hotspur win against Brighton in the 5:30pm kick-off would then confirm relegation.

Even if Wanderers lost and Spurs also lost, relegation could still happen on Monday, with West Ham United taking on Crystal Palace.

It would certainly hurt if Nuno Espirito Santo was the one to condemn the Old Gold to the second tier, having guided the club out of it back in 2017.
