Wolves face Burnley in their final Premier league game of the season on Sunday, and Rob Edwards is currently deliberating his last starting XI of 2025/26.
The Old Gold are currently seven games without a win and are finishing the season in typical Wolves style.
Wolves fans, do you have any confidence that we can beat Burnley and finish 19th?! 🤔
We are just two points behind the Clarets going into the final day… 🙏
Only this time, there were not enough good results before this latest poor run, with Wolves suffering relegation on April 21.
But there is actually still something to play for in this final game.
Wolves are just two points behind Burnley and can leapfrog them with a victory.
Opta give Wolves a 34.8% chance of victory, and here’s a team that might help Edwards finish with a rare three points.
Wolves predicted XI vs Burnley
Jose Sa returned from injury against Fulham and will probably make his final appearance for the club against Burnley.
Edwards changed the system against Fulham and went with a back four, which became a five when the Old Gold didn’t have the ball.
Yerson Mosquera operated as a right back, with Ladislav Krejci and Santiago Bueno as a central pairing. David Moller Wolfe played as the left-back, but Edwards may bring Hugo Bueno back in for the last game after he only made a cameo last weekend.
Should Rob Edwards keep with a back four for Wolves’ final game vs Burnley? 🤔
Let us know down below if you'd make any changes to this XI…
Andre and Joao Gomes will likely be starting their final games.
Mateus Mane was used as number 10 against Fulham and Edwards may well keep him there, after he took his goal so well.
Hwang Hee-chan was productive against Fulham with the South Korean picking up an assist for Mane’s goal, and should keep his place.
Tolu Arokodare was poor again against Fulham, so it’s difficult to make a case for anyone other than Adam Armstrong to lead the line.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 16 | 37 | 11 | 10 | 16 | 47 | 50 | -3 | 43 | |
| 17 | 37 | 9 | 11 | 17 | 47 | 57 | -10 | 38 | |
| 18 | 37 | 9 | 9 | 19 | 43 | 65 | -22 | 36 | |
| 19 | 37 | 4 | 9 | 24 | 37 | 74 | -37 | 21 | |
| 20 | 37 | 3 | 10 | 24 | 26 | 67 | -41 | 19 |
It has been a dismal season for Wolves, but the players need to embrace the fact it’s the last game and there’s a chance to move off the bottom.
Finishing 19th after being so poor for so long would at least be something, and Wolves would also obviously bring in a bit more money – it’s thought each position in the table is worth just under £3 million.
