Wolves take on Burnley in their final game of the 2025/26 season, and the Old Gold still have the chance to leapfrog their opponents to at least give the fans something positive.
Wanderers’ relegation to the Championship was confirmed weeks ago, and it has been a sorry end to the season for Rob Edwards’ side.
Wolves fans, do you have any confidence that we can beat Burnley and finish 19th?! 🤔
We are just two points behind the Clarets going into the final day… 🙏
Since coming back from the last international break, Wolves haven’t won a game, losing four and drawing three.
Edwards called the players out after the 3-0 defeat to Brighton, suggesting many need to be sold this summer.
The performance against Fulham last weekend was better, but the players now need to give the fans something in this final game, with there still being a chance to leapfrog Burnley and finish 19th.
And Opta have now shared the chance of that happening.
The chance of Wolves beating Burnley and coming 19th

Games against Burnley are always tough, and Wolves have had a mixed record against the Clarets in recent times.
Wolves have beaten Burnley in two of the last five meetings, but there are just two wins for Wolves in the last 11.
It’s been a really poor season for the Clarets, who recently parted company with Scott Parker, but they’ll be determined to win their last game.
And Opta feel they have a better chance of winning than Wolves.
The percentage chances for the result of the game are as follows:
- Burnley win – 39.2%
- Draw – 26.0%
- Wolves win – 34.8%
As things currently stand, Burnley are just two points above Wolves in the table. So it’s a must-win game for Wanderers if the club are to not finish rock bottom.
Burnley have won just two games all season at Turf Moor, drawing six and losing 10.
So Wolves need to try and take this game to them, and have some pride in their performance.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 15 | 37 | 11 | 12 | 14 | 40 | 49 | -9 | 45 | |
| 16 | 37 | 11 | 10 | 16 | 47 | 50 | -3 | 43 | |
| 17 | 37 | 9 | 11 | 17 | 47 | 57 | -10 | 38 | |
| 18 | 37 | 9 | 9 | 19 | 43 | 65 | -22 | 36 | |
| 19 | 37 | 4 | 9 | 24 | 37 | 74 | -37 | 21 | |
| 20 | 37 | 3 | 10 | 24 | 26 | 67 | -41 | 19 |
And Edwards ideally needs a win.
If he loses heavily in this last game then that could force Nathan Shi to rethink things heading into the summer.
While Edwards was appointed with the Championship in mind, the jury is still out on him for many, and Shi did not take the opportunity to back him publicly at the recent Fan Forum event at Molineux.
