Wolves transfer news: Wolves still hold an interest in Andre Almeida

Wolves reportedly still hold an interest in Andre Almeida, despite signing Matheus Nunes.

The club have delighted supporters this week with the swoop for the midfielder from Sporting CP.

The club moved quickly in the end, with the 23-year-old attracting attention from several other teams.

Wanderers have smashed their transfer record to sign Nunes, and it is undoubtedly one of the most exciting deals at Molineux for many years.

Wolves’ pool of midfield options is now looking a lot healthier.

But Wanderers are apparently still interested in signing Almeida from Vitoria Guimaraes.

According to Pedro Sepulveda, the player is not interested in joining Sporting CP to be a replacement for Nunes, nor is Ruben Amorim keen on him.

Almeida is interesting in making a move to either Wolves or FC Porto.

But at the moment, Sepulveda says, both clubs consider the asking price from Vitoria to be too high.

Sepulveda does not share any asking price as part of his update. But it was reported recently that Vitoria were seeking around £7.5 million to sell.

It remains to be seen if Wolves will make a push for Almeida, and vice-versa.

Morgan Gibbs-White can also play centrally, and he is now reportedly joining Nottingham Forest. So it could well be that Wolves try to sign another central midfielder, with Goncalo Guedes to serve as the replacement for Gibbs-White.

Midfield options will be looking very healthy if Almeida follows Nunes to Molineux

The coming days will be interesting.

It looks as though Gibbs-White will now join Forest, and that does potentially create a slight need for another central player.

Almeida coming in would create some serious depth for the midfield.

If a deal did come to fruition, then that would surely mean one of Connor Ronan or Luke Cundle would leave the club on some kind of basis.
