Wolves transfer news: Porto trying to sign Wanderers target Andre Almeida

Time is of the essence for Wolves if they want to sign Andre Almeida, with FC Porto trying to land the midfielder.

According to Record, the Portuguese giants are looking to snap up the 22-year-old from Vitoria Guimaraes.

Porto lost Vitinha to Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer, and the club are looking for a replacement.

Almeida is seemingly an option, and Porto have already made an approach.

Record say they made a bid of just under £3 million for the maestro.

The Champions League club are now supposedly considering raising that offer to £4.2 million and are prepared to include a player in the deal.

Vitoria are said to be holding out for £7.5 million. That is a slightly lower asking price than what was reported a couple of weeks ago.

Potentially, this puts Wolves under a bit of pressure to act if they really want to sign Almeida.

Zero Zero reported a couple of months ago that Wanderers were showing interest in Almeida and his teammate at the time Gui Guedes, who has now moved to Spanish side Almeria.

Wolves fans have been frustrated with the lack of movement from the club in the transfer market so far this summer.

The club have only brought in Nathan Collins up to now.

Many want to see the arrival of a new central midfielder to shake things up a bit.

There isn’t a great deal of depth, although Morgan Gibbs-White and Connor Ronan could potentially be used as central options in 2022/23.

Pressure on for Wolves as Porto try to sign Andre Almeida

With the new season now just over a week away, time is seriously against Wolves.

The squad is looking extremely light, and fans are rightly getting a little worried.

Obviously the most pressing situation right now is for the club to sign a new striker or two following the injury to Raul Jimenez and the decision to loan out Fabio Silva.

But it would still be good to see a new midfielder come through the door.

Almeida is young Portuguese player with high potential and you would think Wolves would be all over it.

At £7.5 million, surely this is a deal Wolves would look to do. But if they want to they’ll need to hurry up with Porto looking to swoop.
