Wolves have entered the race to sign Andre Almeida – and the club have now discovered they will need to pay £8.5 million to sign him.
According to A Bola this morning, Wanderers are in the hunt for the 22-year-old Portuguese midfielder.
The youngster is currently attracting a fair bit of attention after an impressive season in 2021/22. FC Porto supposedly want him as a possible replacement for Vitinha, who recently joined Paris Saint-Germain.
Almeida made 36 appearances in total for the club, and helped Vitoria to finish sixth in the table.
Wanderers supporters are desperately hoping to see the arrival of at least one new midfielder this summer.
Bruno Lage currently has Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho, Leander Dendoncker and young Luke Cundle at his disposal.
The same three senior players have been in place at Molineux for years now, and there is feeling that the club seriously need to add to that pool of options.
Joao Palhinha was long linked with a move to Molineux before Wolves opted against a move and the player joined Fulham.
There has been plenty of talk about Matheus Nunes coming in as a possible signing. But it seems Wolves would need to sell Neves to be able to afford him.
So it could well be that Wolves make a play for Almeida, who would be much cheaper than Nunes.
Wolves need to get a move on, as £8.5 million Andre Almeida asking price is revealed
Wolves really need to start making some moves in the transfer window now.
All the players are now back for pre-season and not a single new face has come through the door.
The 2022/23 season starts in just one month, so Wolves need their new signings in and embedded.
Almeida is a talented youngster who could potentially be a long-term successor to Joao Moutinho.
£8.6 million doesn’t feel like a massive outlay, so hopefully the club can get a deal tied up as soon as possible.
