Wolves transfer news: Wolves interested in Moussa Dembele

Wolves have been linked with a move for striker Moussa Dembele.

According to Express & Star journalist Liam Keen, Wanderers have sounded out the Frenchman as a potential addition to the squad this summer.

Dembele is to become a free agent having decided to leave Lyon.

He’s spent the last five years at the Ligue 1 side, and also had a loan spell with Atletico Madrid in that time.

Dembele, who has also had spells with Celtic and Fulham, scored 70 goals in 172 games for the club.

He will now take up a new challenge next season – and Wolves are keen on the player.

Wolves interested in Moussa Dembele, but no contact yet

According to Keen, Wolves hold a long standing interest in Dembele.

Interestingly, Wanderers actually considered a move for him last summer. The club then reignited their interest in January.

In the end, Matheus Cunha was the only attacker brought in.

Wolves maintain an interest. But no approach has been made yet.

Perhaps this could be because Julen Lopetegui is looking to see what Fabio Silva wants to do. In recent days it has been reported that he wants to leave the club, and that Wolves would be willing to sell for £21.4 million.

But Wolves may have to get a move on over Dembele.

As a free agent, he obviously has plenty of clubs interest in him, including Everton, Galatasaray and Inter.

Moussa Dembele on a free transfer is surely a no-brainer for Wolves

Hopefully this is something that will come to fruition for Wolves.

He is pretty much an ideal signing for the club right now.

Dembele would not cost anything in terms of a transfer fee, which is surely appealing given those FFP concerns.

Dembele only scored three goals in 28 games last season. But his overall record at Lyon is decent and his goalscoring exploits at Celtic were very good.

According to a feature last year from GFFN, Dembele is a ‘natural and instinctive goalscorer’.

But they also said of him that Dembele would benefit from ‘creative support’.

So in theory, he could potentially make a really effective partnership with Matheus Cunha, who is someone who looks so much better playing just off a number nine.
