Wolves youngster Ryan Giles reportedly now has Premier League interest in the form of West Ham United and Leicester City.
The Daily Mirror have reported today (print edition, 09/03, pg 56) that the 23-year-old is attracting attention from the top-flight following an outstanding campaign on loan at Middlesbrough.
Giles has been superb in the Championship, providing nine assists so far.
That’s more than any other player in the division.
Giles has become very familiar with the English second tier, having previously had spells with Rotherham United, Cardiff City, Coventry City and Blackburn Rovers.
He has clocked up 109 appearances in the division across those clubs.
Giles has really flourished since Michael Carrick came in at Boro.
The former Manchester United midfielder is a big fan of the youngster, and is hopeful of signing him permanently this summer.
He said recently: “There’s conversations that go on all the time. It’s not like we don’t talk about things and then just decide in the summer. It’s an ongoing thing.
“Obviously, right now, there’s nothing more to report on it, but Ryan has been magnificent for us. He’s obviously caused a lot of problems going forward, but he’s also improved an awful lot on his defending.”
Giles is primarily known for his fantastic ability to deliver a ball into the box.
Tony Mowbray, is manager at Blackburn said of Giles (via Wolves official): “He’s got fantastic talent, brilliant speed and amaing technique on his left foot.”
Leicester and West Ham interest in Ryan Giles could see Wolves make big sale this summer
So, as expected, it isn’t just Middlesbrough who want to sign Giles this summer.
Giles is seemingly now attracting attention from Premier League clubs, meaning it’s a great opportunity for Wolves to make some really good money on the 23-year-old.
Of course, Julen Lopetegui may wish to take a look at him in pre-season and could decide he’s an option for the first-team squad.
But Hugo Bueno and Rayan Ait-Nouri would make a breakthrough difficult for Giles. That said, he would also be able to provide cover as a winger.
West Ham and Leicester being keen is really good. Potentially, Wolves could drive a really hard bargain and make millions on their academy graduate.
