Wolves transfer news: Wanderers have shown the most interest in Nico Gonzalez

Wolves are reported to be the club that has shown the most interest in Barcelona star Nico Gonzalez.

Sport bring a report today about the Spain U21 international, who is one of many midfielders at the Nou Camp vying for minutes.

Gonzalez’s future is up in the air according to the outlet, and it is suggested a loan move could now be in the offing.

Barca are not looking to sell, as they believe in his potential. The idea that appeals the most to the Spanish giants is a straight-up loan move, without any option to buy for the suitor.

That stacks up with comments made by Mendes earlier this summer.

Whether Wolves would agree to a loan move remains to be seen.

Gonzalez has previously been seen at Barca as the potential long-term successor to Sergio Busquets.

Goal produced a feature on Gonzalez previously around that comparison, and featured quotes from former La Masia coach Fran Artiga, who said: “He is a super intelligent player, not only at a football level, but also academically. He is highly gifted, and that is reflected on the field. He will have a fast learning process.”

With so many options now available to Xavi, it would be hard for Gonzalez to get regular game time to live up that hype.

This is a situation that is certainly worth keeping an eye on.

Mendes representing the player may mean a reasonable chance of Gonzalez heading to Molineux in the next few weeks.

Wolves and Barca have obviously done business a few times recently.

Nelson Semedo joined Wanderers in 2020. Francisco Trincao came to Molineux on loan a year later and in January of this year, Wolves loaned Adama Traore to them.

Nico Gonzalez would be an excellent signing for Wolves

It would be brilliant to see Gonzalez come to Molineux.

As an out-and-out holding midfielder, his presence in the squad could mean Ruben Neves is able to take up positions higher up the pitch.

We have seen previously that Neves can be just as useful further forwards.
