Barcelona reportedly have no intention of selling Nico Gonzalez this summer, according to agent Jorge Mendes.
The star has recently been linked with a move to Wolves.
Last month it was reported that Wanderers were ‘very interested’ in the 20-year-old this summer.
There has been some talk about Barca potentially offering him as makeweight in a deal to sign Ruben Neves.
The Catalan giants have now long been linked with the 25-year-old, but seemingly don’t have the cash.
And it’s been claimed earlier this week that Wolves are now looking for around £70 million for Neves.
So Nico had been mentioned as a possible sweetener. But it seems such an offer will not be forthcoming.
Mendes is quoted by journalist Fabrizio Romano as saying ‘Barça have no intention to sell Nico, even though there are proposals’.
Meanwhile, Wolves continue to be linked with another defensive midfielder Joao Palhinha.
It was reported earlier this week that Wolves are ready to make their first offer for the Sporting CP star.
Nico Gonzalez would have been a great addition for Wolves
It is a shame that there is seemingly now no chance of Wolves signing Nico.
The star has huge potential, and has previously drawn comparisons to Sergio Busquets (via Goal).
Hopefully this will now see Wolves get a move on with their pursuit of Palhinha.
The club really ought to get his signing over the line quickly, with many fans desperate for a new face.
