Wolves are reportedly considering making a move for Vitoria Guimaraes midfielder Andre Almeida this summer.
According to a report from Jornal de Noticias, the club could soon make a proposal for the youngster, who has made 31 appearances in the Portuguese top-flight this season.
The publication say that Wolves could offer as much as €8 million/£6.7 million to try and land him.
Almeida’s contract with the club expires in the summer of 2023 and so, Vitoria are looking to try and sell before they lose him as a free agent. That said, they supposedly do have an option to extend his contract by another year.
Wolves are not the only club keen on Almeida.
Apparently there is also interest from FC Porto, who won this season’s league title.
Wolves are facing the prospect of losing Ruben Neves this summer.
The maestro will have been at the club for five years, and it’s very likely a number of teams will come in for him given the amazing season he has just had.
The star looked emotional as the players thanked fans after the game with Norwich City last weekend. It remains to be seen if that was significant.
Joao Moutinho could also depart, although the player is said to want to extend and Bruno Lage wants to keep him.
Leander Dendoncker has also been linked with a move away.
This term, Almeida has operated as a central midfielder. At times he has also pushed on to play as a number 10.
Despite taking up advanced positions, he has not scored any goals in 2021/22.
Wolves need first-team ready players, as Andre Almeida linked
Links to Andre Almeida are unlikely to go down too well with some Wolves fans.
The club really need to bring in some new faces that are ready to make a big difference.
It has been a disappointing end to the season. And it just feels as though Wolves need to go big in the summer to try and reach the next level.
Almeida is a young player with good potential.
But to have not scored all season despite making 31 top-flight appearances is a little underwhelming.
