Wolves transfer news: Wanderers ask about South Korea star Kang-in Lee

Wolves have reportedly asked about South Korea star Kang-in Lee.

According to journalist Matteo Moretto, Wanderers have been in contract with the attacking midfielder’s club Real Mallorca.

Lee has only been with the club for a year, after leaving Valencia last year.

So far, Lee has racked up 48 appearances, and scored three goals and made six assists.

Lee also has seven caps for the South Korea national team, the latest of those coming today as they took on Uruguay at the World Cup in Qatar.

Lee was a second-half substitute, replacing Sang-ho Na.

This is not the first time Wolves have been linked with Lee. There were several reports throughout 2021 about Wanderers having an interest in the 21-year-old.

In April 2021, Sport Aragorn reported that Wolves might have done a deal for him, with Rafa Mir being linked with a move to Valencia.

It was suggested that two separate deals were in the offing.

Journalist Moretto also reports that Newcastle United have asked about Lee.

Currently, there is no word about how much Mallorca would demand for the youngster.

Wolves may be looking to replace Joao Moutinho long-term, and Hwang Hee-chan factor could help club sign Kang-in Lee

So Wolves are being linked with Kang-in Lee again, and it’s probably no surprise.

Wanderers may lose Joao Moutinho next season given his advancing years. There’s also a chance Ruben Neves and Matheus could move on.

Wolves still don’t really have an out-and-out attacking midfielder and Lee could be a good addition to the squad.

He has previously been likened to David Silva in terms of his play style and for being ‘a diminutive left-footed creative midfielder’ (via Goal). And South Korea legend Yoo Sang-cheol has previously said of Lee: “He absorbs knowledge like a sponge. He is the ace of the team with excellent speed, shooting and defensive technique.”

And he might fancy the move to Molineux if Hwang Hee-chan is there, with the pair being international teammates.
