Wolves face competition from Portuguese giants Sporting CP to sign Viktor Gyokeres this summer.
Wanderers are heading to the summer having just finished the 2022/23 season as the lowest scorers in the Premier League.

The team had real trouble in the final third last term, and in the end it was Daniel Podence and Ruben Neves who finished as the club’s joint top scorers with six goals each.
Raul Jimenez did not score a single Premier League goal. And Diego Costa managed just one.
Matheus Cunha chipped in with a couple following his arrival in January.
It has been a real problem for Wolves for some time.
A squad with as much quality as Wolves should not be scoring as infrequently as there, and so Julen Lopetegui will be very keen for this to change from next season.
Gyokeres has been mentioned as a potential transfer option this summer. But Wolves are now up against it to land the Sweden interntional.
Wolves facing competition from Sporting CP in Viktor Gyokeres
Perhaps inevitably, a string of clubs are on Gyokeres’ tail as well as Wolves.
Scoring 22 league goals in a season will do that.

According to journalist Sant Aouna, Sporting have now made Gyokeres a priority this summer.
The club is said to want to close a deal as soon as possible. He adds that many clubs are interested.
Previously, it has been reported that Gyokeres is valued at around £25 million by Coventry.
Wolves have previously been mentioned as the team in pole position for the 24-year-old. But given the FFP concerns, this could now be a very difficult deal to get done quickly.
Wolves may have to move quickly to sign Viktor Gyokeres as Sporting step up pursuit
So Sporting, who’ll play in next season Europa League, have now made Gyokeres a priority – and that’s not good news for Wolves.
Wolves are seemingly quite keen on Gyokeres.

The club actually did consider him during the January window but ultimately decided against it.
It appears there is still some interest there. But Wolves’ financial situation may dictate how quickly they are able to move. And if they are even able to move at all.
It may well be that Wanderers just don’t have the funds for Gyokeres right now and Sporting do.
