Wolves transfer news: Ryan Giles now wanted by Leicester City

Wolves wing-back Ryan Giles has emerged as a transfer target for Leicester City.

The Foxes are looking to rebuild their squad ready for the Championship, after suffering relegation from the Premier League.

Yesterday, there was news of interest from Leicester in Conor Coady.

Coady is set for talks with Julen Lopetegui about whether he’ll stay put at Molineux or seek a new challenge.

And now, it looks as though Leicester, who have just appointed Enzo Maresca as their new manager, are looking to sign a player who has absolutely thrived in the Championship in recent years.

According to TEAMtalk, Giles, 23, is now firmly a target for Maresca.

He wants to land the star, after his fine season on loan with Middlesbrough last season.

Giles featured heavily for Boro as they just fell short of being promoted to the Premier League, making 45 Championship appearances.

Giles seriously impressed, especially after Michael Carrick came in as maager.

He finished the campaign with 11 league assists to his name.

Giles has looked really at home in the Championship. He’s also had spells with the likes of Coventry City, Rotherham United, Blackburn Rovers and Cardiff City.

He has racked up 119 appearances in the English second tier across those loan stints, so it is understandable that Leicester want him.

Wolves must ensure they get good money for Ryan Giles, as Leicester City join hunt

Giles may have only ever made one first-team appearance for Wolves (against Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup in 2019), but the club can definitely demand a decent fee for him this summer.

Giles – who joined Wolves at the age of 8 – would be a really valuable player for many teams to have.

He has shown how dangerous he can be over the last few years.

He’s got two years left on his contract at Molineux, so Wanderers are in a strong position.

Interest in Giles is high. Boro are wanting to re-sign Giles permanently and earlier this year West Ham United also got linked.

There’s potential for a bidding war to break out, which would be ideal for Wolves given the FFP issues at the moment.
