Ryan Giles looks like he could be heading back to Cardiff City on loan, with Wolves now in advanced talks with the Championship club.
The wing-back recently returned to Wolves to provide a bit of extra cover for the first-team.
Since coming back, Giles hasn’t featured for the first-team.
He made the bench for the games against Sheffield United, Southampton and Brentford.
But Bruno Lage refrained from playing him.
It was reported shortly after that Giles could yet head back out again if he wasn’t really needed.
And it appears that might now be the case.
Journalist Pete O’Rourke is reporting that Giles is now set to move back to Cardiff on loan for the rest of the season.
The clubs are in advanced talks, and the Bluebirds are said to be ‘confident’ of getting Giles back this week.
Before returning to Wolves, Giles had been in fantastic form.
He had made 21 appearances for Cardiff. He had been deployed as a winger, and the more advanced position allowed him to often get into great crossing positions.
His delivery is one of his best attributes, and he left having notched a very impressive nine assists.
A move that makes sense for Wolves and Ryan Giles, as Cardiff close in on loan
This looks to be the best decision Wolves could make regarding Giles.
He isn’t going to be getting many, if any, minutes with the first-team between now and the end of the season.
Rayan Ait-Nouri is playing brilliantly, and Fernando Marcal is another option for Lage.
And Ki-Jana Hoever and Nelson Semedo can both operate on the left side if needs be. Giles can play further forwards, but Wolves have now brought in Chiquinho.
It makes sense for him to leave on loan, and even more sense to return to Cardiff where he was playing so well.
There should be a good chance of him hitting the ground running quickly since he already has 21 games under his belt for them this season.
